I’ve been using wordpress for over 4 years now.. It has allowed me to make a living… but I’m starting to feel like it’s not always “the right choice” I can’t tell you how many blogs/sites I have done taking the extra time to create custom panels/widgets just to find myself having the client call me every time they want something changed… Then there is the thing wordpress is so well known for.. PLUGINS… yeah great there is an archive of over a thousand plugins that can do almost anything you want.. downfall as a designer, your client installs every plugin they can come across, bogging down the speed of the site not to mention the amount of ugly it can throws into the sidebar.. Needless to say I’m looking into a few other CMS options for small sites.. maybe even some custom solutions :-) and I will be glad to share once come up with a final decision.

That’s my .02 … With that said I still think WordPress has it’s place… and is an amazing piece of software.

Been looking to invest in a nice chair… my $100 target roller has gotten it’s share play of my butt..  Came across these Gunlocke chairs (unfortunitily I can’t find anyone that sells theme… or a price ) but thought they are well worth mentioning… LOVE the wood back …

It’s Almost been a full year of being on my own… I quit my old job last January to pursue freelancing. I can’t even count the amount of days I have stayed up till daylight broke.. all for the rush of meeting the deadline.. It’s 2:30 as I type now… and this is the third day in the row I have sat in front of my computer all day. I know my wife is soooo excited about that.

I’ve got a fever and the only cure is perfect kerning.

O no.. it’s turning into another one of those “designers new years resolution” posts.. I give you full authority to leave now.. I’m just thinking out loud… with my fingers..? All joking aside.. I love my “job” ( I gave it quotes because it does not feel like a job). In the Past I’ve done everything, from working as a stock boy at a Super Target, cashier at Chick-fil-a, shampooing and sweeping floors while trying to get my hair stylist license.. to calling “all skate” and rocking 80′s music as the DJ of a skating rink, and being a project manager of a furniture company. But freelancing is the only Job I have loved… I mean I can’t stop thinking about it, everything thing I see I’m thinking of a project I could use it on.. or I search around design blogs and magazines just because it excites me. I’ve got a fever and the only cure is perfect kerning.

I’m hoping the year 2010 brings great things. I feel I have grown a lot in the past year, met so many amazing people and been able to work on a lot of cool projects… And I still can’t believe I get paid doing it!

I turned 25 today…. looking forward to a break on my insurance… but not looking forward to my 5 year plan now ending when I’m 30.

I”ve been watching the news a lot lately, well not really.. but I did today while I was working out… Seams that all I have to do to make it big is #fail (oops forgot i’m not on twitter) I mean… if I create terrible designs and my customer service is below par me and my wife might end up on the streets. BUT thats when the magic happens and the *spleeeeee* (magic fairy dust noise)  the goverment is going to come and give us millions of dollars to stay around…. so why should I try?

I probably just annoyed some people.. don’t take it to heart… I’m just joshin’
