A lot of people probably don’t think about the person that sat there and designed every aspect of the program you are looking at. Who created those icons on your dock? who decided to make the Photoshop Pan tool look like an actual hand? A lot of that is to the credit of Susan Kare. She created some of the most iconic icons known to date.

Amazing write up (plus videos) of the branding process for HP. A once iconic company turned stale. Their new brand mark hinting at their past. Made me laugh to see by 2021 they want to own the slant as their image.

Eames is one of those classic brands the does more with less. Can’t wait to check out this documentary on their history.

A couple weeks ago I went and hung out with my buddy Benj at his office near my house. He is one of the masterminds behind Eyespeak here in Atlanta… Little did I know he also shares the passion for creating interior environments. Eyespeak is definitely a hub of inspiration, from the wood rock climbing wall to the table made from scraps of wood during the building process… and who couldn’t use a massive foam pit to jump into when a client is changing deadlines? I let him know since they are 4 miles from my house I will be stealing one of the work spots and claiming it as my own.

Christopher Stott is a Canadian based painter. Love the simple focus on single objects.

Stott’s work is almost object portraiture, applying traditional still life compositions and lighting but ventures beyond time honored subject matter. Stott takes his cues from various eras of art including the interiors of Vermeer, the still life of Chardin to the realism of Thiebaud. With the addition of retro, vintage and antique objects like rotary telephones, typewriters, electric fans, and alarm clocks, he links the old with the new and applies a subtle narrative to his work, often with a quiet sense of humor.
