Min is a free WordPress theme I created. No bells and whistles, just simple clean and to the point. It has two widgetized footer areas to handle navigation or anything else you feel like sticking in there. Make sure you set your media upload to 560px wide to fit snug in the post area.

I really like it. You could probably make some extra cash if you made a tumblr version as well.

    But no HTML5?

  2. Ben says:

Your always putting out such awesome simplified complex awesomeness.

  3. Adam Lehman says:

Love it. Love it. Love it.

  4. sam says:

Loving this, and have already ported over. Would love an option to have a black background, if at all possible (I tried playing with the stylesheets this morning myself, but only ended up butchering things!).

Either way though, gorgeous in its simplicity.

When you said minimal you mean it. This theme is super
clean and simple. Great work, the code looks good!

  6. Tan The Man says:

Like it. But the grey font color can be hard to read for
    those of us without 20/20.

  14. Jacob says:

Very nice work. I searched quite a time for a theme that was really minimal and you did it :)
Do you distribute this theme under some sort of license? I would like to translate some parts for my personal website (Dutch).

  15. Kat says:

Excellent theme. I love the minimalist look. I’m trying it out now on my blog. It’s fun to get rid of all the extras on the sidebar. Thanks.

  16. Jason says:

    Hey Jared, great theme!

I know this will sound mad but how would I go about moving the sidebar back up to a more default location on the right of the page? I’ve found that I can move it about by moving the line

up in the index.php file but I can’t seem to see where I would change the sidebars from being footer only.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi. My English is very bad. I fail to appear at the end of the page links to other pages “About” “free stuff” “News”. You know why? You know how to fix it? Anyway, your theme is great!!

This theme is amazing, JUST the one I was looking for!

One question tho.. how do i add the bottom section like you did? – About me, Categories, Pages, etc. Can I also add Twitter feed there?

  20. Collin says:

Looks like a great way to de-clutter a site. Does this allow for any sort of menu or sidebar items?

  21. Mixi says:

Hey, great theme! I am trying to remove the comments from pages using the usual screen options and then uncheck “allow comments” but they are still there? Do you have any idea how to do that?

  22. Robert says:

    Hello Jared,

I like your theme, at present I try to change the posts
through a page content with the wp e-commerce plugin.

Do you have an idea how I can realize it ?

    Thx for your reply.
    Robert

  23. Noell says:

Great job and thank you !

  26. Eric says:

Hey, thinking about using wordpress on my site but wanted to use tumult hype to make an animated html5 heading. Does this theme allow you to use a custom heading? The one I’m working on is 720px wide and 582px high. Would love to have my heading and this blog format right below. Thanks!

  27. Jen says:

Hi! I love your theme! It’s so slick and modern :) I wanted to ask if you could give me a tip on how to change the blog title to a logo. Thank you!

  28. Antonator says:

Really nice minimal! I’d like to use this in the future.

Let the issue. I wasn’t able to see the “reply to comment”. How can I enable it?

    My WordPress is 3.3.1.

    • Jared says:

at the time i built this I did not plan on having threaded comments (which gives the reply link) there may be a update coming soon :-)

      • Antonator says:

Thanks for clarified this. Because I thought that doing anything wrong. I will follow the news, because happy to enjoy your «min».

  29. fvr says:

I love it and would sincerely use it for my film blog, but I think that the shades of gray makes it a bit hard to read, when you’ve got a review of more than 1000 words on.
If you could make it more contrast maybe ?! I dunno.
Also the links need to stand out in a different color or maybe as bold or italics (the latter would feel more elegant), because I like to add 20+ links in my body.
Otherwise, I love the way it’s simple and clean cut.
Again, I would definitely use it for something intellectual as a film review blog.

  30. Helle Krogh says:

iLike. But could really use this design WITH som social media icons :D

  31. Just one nit. the thing I like best obviously is this theme’s simplicity, but I hate having to scroll to the bottom for navigation. seems a little in opposition to the overall effect. But, it is free and it looks great so, bottom line…. Thanks for sharing your work!

  32. Andy Hawkins says:

Hey Jared, loving the min theme but would like to know if its possible to add an image to the header that would sit behind the text?

  33. d i l i p says:

Hi Jared, lovely theme! I am thinking of using your theme for my site. I have one question though. Once you are inside a blog post, say for eg., “Only text styles,” (from the Min demo), how does a user go to the previous or the next post? The link (previous post/newer post) seems to be missing. Would copying section from index.php to single.php do the trick? I am not a web designer and don’t have much knowledge of all these things. Thanks in advance for any help.

  34. Hi Jared,

First, super theme! I use it on my own blog.

But in the header you refers to a file called custom.js but unfortunately this is not present in the theme files.

Also in the styles.css file you refers to a style file called forms.css. This is same as above not present.

    Thank you!

  35. Al Garcia says:

I made some small modifications and I love it http://notas.litelate.com/
I’ve been using WordPress since 2007 I think, and moved to Posterous because of the themes, simpler, and the system as a whole. Then I regretted, after a year or so. After moving my content back to WP I was looking for a theme just like this. Clean. Beautiful. I’m glad you made this!
I recently thought I’d love a way to make the column more “flexible”, like liquid. I like how it looks in my MacBook but it can look better on the iPhone or iPad. Any ways to do this? Like setting a width maximum for wider screens and letting the text flow more freely on lower resolutions or something?

  36. Chris says:

This is bad ass! Thanks for building this Jared!

  37. 3Jane says:

anything like this for portfolio vs a blog? nice work!

  38. Ando Perez says:

Still loving this theme! It rocks!

  39. David Walker says:

    Jared,

Theme is dope. Question? How do I center the post header, date, and comments option? I’m a novice. Reply… slowly… please.

  40. tom says:

Love this theme! So rare to get something without overpowering header – and suitable for portrait images too :-)
In the demo linked above, when I click on an image e.g. the first one, it shows very slightly larger. I’m wondering if it could show an image at a much bigger size, say, 1,000 pixel? (It works like this in the blog linked above – but the poster does say they modified the theme – e.g. http://notasueltas.litelate.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Photo-Apr-28-7-29-52-AM.jpg.scaled1000.jpg)
    thanks in advance, Tom

    • Jared Erickson says:

Hey tom, Try using the Jetpack plugin with it’s image overlay. or look for a lightbox plugin. that may help you

    • sam says:

Tom: I modified the width of the theme on my site so that it’s wider across to accomodate (and line up with) somewhat bigger images. In the theme editor, go to the stylesheet, and change the “width:640px” (I think, I changed it to 980px a million years ago) variable in the #wrapper line under layout to whatever width you’d like. I also use slimbox (a variation on lightbox) to get a lightbox effect for when I have more than a few photos.

God I love this theme. Thanks for making something that stands out from all the millions of other ‘minimalist’ themes out there!

  42. Eva says:

    Beautiful simplicity!

  43. Mark says:

Thank you for the nice theme. Any idea why images in posts have a 12pixel gap between them (as illustrate under purple and under green at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dqiwpy7njp38k8p/sample.gif)

  44. Molen says:

  45. Gavin says:

Hello, is it possible to add my logo to either the “Min” theme or the “Less” theme?

Really cool themes by the way.
